SleepPro, the British company behind a series of mandibular advancement devices or MADs, has been producing quality solutions for snorers since 1998.
Their entry-level MAD is the SleepPro Easifit, a device that comes in both male and female versions, the female version being more compact so that it fits smaller mouths more comfortably.
As a starter option for those new to MADs the Easifit is a really good introduction to a family of mouthpieces that offer a wide range of solutions.
Because if you feel that you want even better quality sleep than that which you are getting through the Easifit then you have the option to move to the adjustable SleepPro Contour.
You also have the choice of using the most advanced product in their family of MADs the highly customizable SleepPro Custom. A device that is actually made exclusively for you in their laboratory when you return the professional dental-impression-kit provided.
The Easifit piece also comes in an anti-microbial (AM) version that lasts even longer than its standard alternative by ensuring microbes cannot survive via a coating that also provides further protection to both the device and your teeth.
How It Works
If you’re a first time user of an MAD, don’t worry. The setup process is easy and hassle free and is detailed in The Fit section below.
As with all MADs this anti-snoring device reduces or stops noise disturbance episodes by pushing the lower jaw forwards so as to tighten the throat muscles, which – when relaxed – can be a major cause of snoring.
Also by wearing this device your tongue is kept in place, preventing it from falling into the back of your throat, which can also be a significant trigger of noise.
Always read and follow the instructions provided carefully as each manufacturer has slightly different tips and advice on how to ensure that the product you buy fits well. Only by familiarizing yourself with a device’s instructions can you truly expect to gain maximum benefit from its design. So please don’t attempt to fit any MAD without knowing how to do it properly first!
Be sure that the white insert for the breathing holes is in place. Ensure it’s threaded all the way through. It should point away from your face when the piece is in your mouth.
The SleepPro Easifit has a top and a bottom. The top has a notch in it so its more or less impossible to mistake which side is which.
Run-through the moulding process several times so that you feel happy with how to proceed, after all, practice makes perfect!
Push your jaw forward so that your lower front teeth are slightly in front of your upper front teeth. For the majority of people this is going to be the position where you want the mouthpiece to hold your jaw.
However, you may need to try a few different positions before you find the one that is best for you. What you need to end up with is your jaw pushed far enough forward to open your airway, but not so far forward that it causes discomfort and stops you sleeping.
If you don’t get it right the first time, don’t worry. Just repeat the moulding process until it feels right. This usually takes no more than two or three times and often only once!
Again: Please do be sure to read and follow the instructions to the letter. Any product that sits in your mouth and holds your teeth and jaw in place can cause serious problems if not fitted correctly. It’s not difficult to fit, but it must be done correctly for your health and safety.
At $49.99 – for a unit that the manufacturer says has a lifespan of up to 24 months – you get as much as two years supply of anti-snoring device for that price, even longer with the AM version, which is a pretty good deal!
Free postage is offered to UK addresses, but outside of the UK shipping and handling are as thus: $8.25 to Europe, $10.25 for the US and Canada and $16.25 to anywhere else. Which, although not overly expensive, is not as cheap as some of its competitors. Shipping and handling rates are non-refundable.
As with many other anti-snoring devices the SleepPro Easifit comes with a full 30-day money back guarantee if for any reason you find it really isn’t for you.
Also: If you decide to upgrade to the more comfortable SleepPro Custom – within 6 months of your original Easifit purchase – the company will give you a 20% discount on the regular purchase price of your upgrade.
As outlined above, this mouthpiece is competitively priced, payment is easy and hassle free.
Can last up to 24 months and even longer when purchased in the AM version.
With two air holes – instead of the standard single breather hole that many MADs are equipped with – breathing through the mouth is easy.
It’s an excellent introduction to MADs and if you find your snoring reduced it could be a good sign for you to invest in a higher priced, but even more efficient anti-snoring devices in the MAD category such as the VitalSleep or SnoreRx.
Comes in male and female sized versions. Blue for men. Pink for women.
As mentioned, there’s a 30-day money back guarantee, but it also carries a 45-day warranty.
Although not a complete deal-breaker, as some MADs can be effective without it, there is no lower jaw adjustment capability. Personally; however, I feel that the greater the adjustability, the better. Any MAD’s primary intent should be focused on optimizing its customers’ comfort.
As with other anti-snoring-devices the SleepPro causes wearers to drool and can cause both jaw and general muscle pain around the face. These issues usually diminish over time as the wear gets used to the device. There can also be incidences of the piece falling out during sleep as you become accustomed to having it in your mouth.
There’s no doubt that the basic price of this product is attractive: $49.99. Plus there’s the 20% discount on an upgrade – if you decide to do so within the first six months of your original purchase. It’s actually difficult to beat those price deals with this level of quality.
Yet, good as the pricing is, the SleepPro Easifit doesn’t yet quite reach the top tier of those MADs that offer fuller adjustability, and more streamlined sizes. I am not saying it isn’t a good product, it is, but is restricted by its own limitations.
As a long-term user of anti-snoring products I believe that adjustment features are absolutely essential, to not only ensure a device’s effectiveness, but their comfort and safety, too.
The adjustable MAD Vitalsleep, priced at $59.99 – with free worldwide shipping – compares well in price to the SleepPro Easifit, which, when combined with its shipping costs, comes in at $58.24 for Europe, $60.24 for the US and Canada, and $66.24 for the rest of the world.
Providing free worldwide shipping sees the Vitalsleep – which is adjustable – delivered to your door at an even lower price than that of the Easifit in most places.
Please note: It is of the utmost importance to be aware of how necessary it is to talk with your registered physician about your snoring problems, you could be suffering from a much more serious condition: Sleep Apnea.
Sleep apnea can lead to life threatening events such as strokes or high blood pressure. Remember only your registered healthcare giver is qualified to assist you in choosing which anti-snoring solution will best address your specific individual needs, so please do seek their advice.
